Austria Overview
Austria is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Switzerland and Liechtenstein (west), Germany and the Czech Republic (north), Hungary and Slovakia (east), Italy and Slovenia (south). Country's official name is the Republic of Austria. Due to the presence of the Alps, Austria has a temperate and alpine climate that provide very good conditions for mountain and ski tourism. Austria's territory is about 83K square kilometres (32K square miles). The majority of the Austrian citizens speaks German, which is the official language of the country. The country's capital is Vienna; the other major cities include Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck. |
