Azerbaijan Overview
Azerbaijan, formally named the Republic of Azerbaijan, is located in the Eurasia's part of Caucasus. Situated at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, it borders Russia to the north, the Caspian Sea to the east, Armenia to the west, Iran to the south and Georgia to the north-west. The majority of Azerbaijan's population is Turkic and Shi‘ite Muslim. The official language of the country is Azeri, even if 13 other languages are also spoken throughout its territory. Azerbaijan is an ancient state with significant cultural heritage. It's capital is the city of Baku. |
