Finland Overview
Finland lies in Northern Europe, occupying a significant part of the Scandinavian peninsula. It borders Norway to the north, the Gulf of Finland to the south, Russia to the east and Sweden to the west. The official language, Finnish, is a member of the Finno-Ugric language group. Finland is a parliamentary republic with its economy largely concentrated in the Helsinki area. Apart from the capital city of Helsinki, other larger cities include Espoo, Tampere, Turku, Oulu and Lahti. |
