Kazakhstan Overview
Kazakhstan is the ninth largest country in the world in terms of territory. With a total area of 2,727,300 square kilometres Kazakhstan is greater than Western Europe and is the largest landlocked country in the world. It's official name is the Republic of Kazakhstan and is one of the six independent Turkic states in Eurasia. Kazakhstan borders to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, China, and is also bordered by a significant part of the Caspian Sea. The capital of the country is Astana, while it largest city is the former capital - Almaty. The other major cities of Kazakhstan include Karagandy and Shymkent. |
