Netherlands Overview
The Netherlands is a parliamentary democratic constitutional monarchy situated in the north-western part of Europe. It is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is often referred as Holland, although North and South Holland are actually only two of the country's twelve provinces. The Netherlands has a coastline on the North Sea to the west and north, while on land it is bordered by Germany to the east and Belgium to the south. The capital and largest city is Amsterdam, but the seat of government is The Hague. The other major cities of the Netherlands include Rotterdam (the largest port in Europe), Eindhoven, Groningen, Breda and Apeldoorn. |
