Russia is a country in northern Eurasia. Its official name is the Russian Federation and its government structure is a federal semi-presidential republic, comprising 83 federal subjects. With its total area of 17,075,400 square kilometers (6,592,800 square miles), which is more than a ninth of the Earth's
land area, Russia is the
world's largest country. The country covers forty percent of Europe's territory and extends across the entire northern Asia. Russia has the largest energy and mineral reserves of resources in the world. The countries bordering Russia are Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania Norway, Finland, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, China, North Korea, and Mongolia. The country's capital and largest city is Moscow. The other major Russian cities include Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara. |
