Slovenia Overview

Slovenia is a country in Central Europe, formerly part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Its official name is the Republic of Slovenia. Slovenia is bordered by Croatia on the south and east, Italy on the west, Austria on the north and Hungary on the north-east. On south-west, the country has a coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Slovenia's total territory is 20,273 square kilometres (7827 square miles). Ljubljana is the country's capital and largest city and Maribor is the second largest Slovenian city.
