Sweden Overview
Sweden is a Northern European country situated on the Scandinavian Peninsula. It is a constitutional monarchy and its official name is the Kingdom of Sweden. Sweden is the third largest country in the EU in terms of area with its territory of 450,295 square kilometers. The country has land borders with Finland to the north-east and Norway to the west, as well as water borders with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia to the east and with Germany, Denmark (also connected to it by a bridge-tunnel across the Öresund), and Poland to the south. Sweden's capital and largest city is Stockholm; the other major Swedish cities include Gothenburg, Malmö, Linköping and Uppsala. |
